Nothing is worse than being the token vegan always causing an issue when it comes to dinner with friends or family. If you don't have family/friends willing to change up their own recipes, the answer is usually: you have to cook for everyone. Then comes the pressure and anxiety of cooking a vegan meal that omni's enjoy. The answer is PIZZA.
Pizza allows you or your friends to be the host. The base of pizza is 90% usually vegan, there are just some simple things to look out for when buying or bringing your own ingredients.
Pizza dough
Pizza dough should be vegan, but that doesn't mean you don't have to check. People get weird these days. Whether you choose to make your own dough (always best because you are most in control of the ingredients going into the dough), or store buy, there should always be a simple ingredient list letting you know what is in the dough. If you do choose to make your own pizza dough, here is a recipe I found for the perfect dough.
Sauce
So I find it most easy to use a jarred tomato sauce, especially if this is a fun night with friends or family. Making sauce can be taxing. Buy a jar and call it a day. Rao's happens to be my favorite. It has simple ingredients and is quite tasty (don't tell my grandma I use jarred sauce). They have a basic marinara, but if you like a nice spicy kick, arrabbiata is the way to go.
Toppings
So this is the fun part. Basically anything works. Throw it all on the pizza. Basil is a must in my opinion. My favorite combo is basil, olives, garlic, arugula, sun dried tomatoes, and artichoke hearts. A veggie slice is great as well with broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, tomatoes, and peppers.
Pizza nights are supposed to be fun. Don't think too much about it and let the creative culinary juices flow.
Nutritional Yeast never hurt nobody, throw that on too for all your friends asking you HOW DO YOU EAT PIZZA WITHOUT CHEESE.
Wine
Yellow Tail is a great popular wine that you can find basically anywhere and their red wine is assured to be vegan.
Barnivore is a great resource letting you know which alcohols are vegan, and which aren't. So, if you decide to add a glass of wine to your pizza, be sure to check their list first.
